Manager Overview

Co-Founded by Bill Bovingdon and Chris Dickman, Altius was established as a joint venture with Australian Unity in 2011. In 2016, the strategic decision was made by Australian Unity to acquire the remaining equity in Altius.

After further consolidation in 2018, Altius became Australian Unity's in house specialist Cash and Fixed Interest Team, whose broad capabilities include relative and/or absolute returns, sustainable investing and managing interest rate, credit as well as liquidity risk.

Manager's responsible investing approach

Altius actively manages diversified portfolios of Australian cash and fixed interest securities utilising its comprehensive environmental, social and governance (ESG) framework. It seeks to generate consistent returns in all market conditions and take advantage of the mispricing of bonds while adhering to its sustainability framework. Being an active steward of the capital entrusted to it, Altius intends to invest sustainably, has clear policies and transparency relating to its portfolios, and is committed to reporting on the outcomes of its investments. As part of its investment philosophy, it is committed to doing its bit to drive the growth and development of the sustainable finance market.

Strategy Summary

The Fund aims to outperform the benchmark (50% Reserve Bank of Australia Cash Rate and 50% Bloomberg AusBond Composite 0+Yr Index) over rolling three year periods. Altius Asset Management employs a diversified strategy to fixed interest funds management that aims to take advantage of the mispricing of bonds in all market conditions. The Altius Sustainable Bond Fund is an Australian fixed interest fund that invests in companies which conduct their business and apply capital responsibly, giving consideration to a range of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
