Responsible Investing Approach
Ausbil's proprietary sustainable approach to investing includes an assessment of a broad range of ESG factors in its investment process and incorporates this assessment for the purposes of selecting, retaining or realising the investments in the Fund. In addition, the Fund includes an assessment of ethical considerations by not investing in companies that have known material exposure to controversial activities. Companies that Ausbil determines to have poor sustainability profiles are excluded and the Fund is then allowed to invest in companies that are determined by Ausbil to have relatively good sustainability profiles.
Ausbil engages with investee companies on a wide range of Environmental, Social and Governance factors, including various industry-specific or company-specific ESG factors, with the aim of promoting industry best practices. ESG-related engagement is predominantly undertaken directly with companies.

Exclusions
Ausbil's fund management strategy includes exclusion criteria for its investment portfolio, ensuring it avoids investing in companies involved in activities deemed harmful or controversial. It fully excludes companies earning any revenue from tobacco or e-cigarette production, as well as those involved in manufacturing controversial weapons or their critical components. Beyond these exclusions, Ausbil applies a threshold for partial exclusions, refraining from investing in companies that derive more than 10% of their earnings from a range of specified activities. These include the distribution of tobacco and tobacco-based products, alcohol products' manufacture, distribution, or retailing, and the broader arms industry covering conventional armaments' production, trade, testing, and maintenance. The Fund also avoids companies involved in fossil fuels exploration, mining, or distribution, and those implicated in human rights violations or exhibiting inadequate risk management in this area. Additional sectors facing investment restrictions include old growth forest logging, non-RSPO palm oil production, excessive animal testing beyond healthcare regulatory requirements, live animal exports, gambling services, uranium extraction or refinement, and the production or distribution of pornography.
